A couple weeks ago, there was a bit of discussion about this site and the FREE domain registration service they offer. I have had good luck registering numerious names for my family and friends.

DomainZero

Now all I need is a free host without banners. BN3.com used to give minimal storage and no ads, but that is OLD NEWS.

Go check out domainzero again if you gave up on it the first time... and more importantly, someone find us a FREE host without ads!

eWebCity offers 30mb of space (on NT) and a bunch more features with no banner ads. Not quite sure about their performance though. Check it out.

for those of you that signed up for this.. i hope you signed up for the ads too...

3.1. Receive promotional offerings via email of various products and services from third party Merchants listed on our sign up page (the ?Merchants?). At a minimum, you agree to accept at least one email from each of those listed Merchants; or (if you elect to not receive the promotional offerings):

3.2 Pay us, prior to the effectiveness of the desired domain name registration, the applicable service(s) fees for the initial one (1) year registration of the domain name and, should you choose to renew the registration, subsequent renewals of the registration. All fees are non-refundable, in whole or in part, even if your domain name registration is suspended, cancelled or transferred prior to the end of your then current registration term. Your requested domain name will not be registered unless we receive actual payment of the registration fee.

3.3 As further consideration for the one (1) year registration service(s), you agree to: (1) provide certain current, complete and accurate information about you as required by the registration process and (2) maintain and update this information as needed to keep it current, complete and accurate. All such information shall be referred to as account information ("Account Information"). In the event of a charge back by a credit card company (or similar action by another payment provider allowed by us) in connection with the payments of the registration fee for your domain name registration, you agree and acknowledge that the domain name registration shall be transferred to Domainzero as the paying entity for that registration to the registry. We will reinstate your domain name registration solely at our discretion, and subject to our receipt of the initial registration or renewal fee and our then-current reinstatement fee, currently set at US $250

4. Renewal. You will be notified by the Registrar via email message or via your account information regarding renewal of your domain name registration. In the event you elect to renew the domain name registration after the first year, you may either (1) pay us the renewal fees required by the registry administrator or, if available, (2) accept additional promotional offerings via email of third party Merchants listed in our renewal notice. Should you fail to take the required action to renew your domain name registration (i.e., (i)your failure to pay fees within the time specified in a second notice or reminder regarding renewal or (ii) your failure to accept our email promotion offering of third party Merchants), your registration will be cancelled after one (1) year. If payment is being made, it must be made by credit card or such other method as we may indicate in the registration application or renewal form. We will renew your name for you provided your credit card or other billing information is available and up to date, unless you instruct us otherwise within the time specified. If your billing information is not accurate and you wish to renew your domain name registration, we will contact you to update this information and charge you accordingly.

I signed up for domainzero.com also a while back and it works perfectly fine for me. So far, domainzero.com only provides your domain name and a redirecion url to where your files are hosted on. For a free host I suggest you try www.f2s.com

They provide:

20 megs of ftp space
Perl/CGI Bin
No Ads
Yourname.F2s.com
Free E-mail@f2s.com
And from the top of my head I remember something about them being located on the london backbone so their performance should be very fast.
ANd their FTP integrates seamlessly with Frontpage2000 or Dreamweaver 3.

I've had a website with F2s.com for a while now and I am very pleased with their service. The only thing I would complain about is that their customer/tech support is really bad. It takes a very very long time to get a response. So new webmasters be wary, your on your own, but webmasters with any bit of experience should realize this is a great site.

yea... my filtered email gets the ads and please note:

** Does "accepting offers" mean that I will receive email from various organizations or does it mean I must purchase a certain amount of item from these organizations?

There is no obligation to make any purchases. Accepting the offers provides the sponsors with your email address for being able to send you their offers.

And Rigmah, you need to enter the new nameservers into access.domainzero.com for the page to transfer to your new web host of choice.

THANKs WB3, but the free membership at eWebCity may give you a website, but they're NOT a host :(

Can I use my own domain name?
We host domain names with the Premium Membership ($10.95 setup and $10.95 a month) only. You can find out more information about the Premium Membership here.
