Domain name guidelines?

What are some guidelines to follow to make a memorable domain name? I had an idea for a domain name for a business idea, but I realized that it could easily be misspelled. Also, what sort of considerations should I make in terms of length of the name?

Short is usually good 6-8 letters - one word is good also

my perfect example of a long easy to remember site is internettrafficreport.com - east to remember.

hyphens are always a bad idea. And using words that can mesh together should be avoided i.e., "surplusrus.com" (hence, might take a moment to disgtinguish what it is)

good luck meeting these requirements 🙂

if you go for 2 words, avoid having 1st/last letters the same.. eg www.bakeddonuts.com

also avoid commonly misspelled pairings of letters like IE, OUGH, AUGH.

it's also best to make it pronounceable as one word. like anandtech

ultimate example: www.dabs.com

now theres a domain
