domain name expired, taken by ENOMNZ INC

pontifex

Lifer
I had a domain name through namecheap and it apparently expired and some company called ENOMNZ INC took it over. The domain name was my actual real name.

Do I have any recourse in getting my domain name back?

Also, doesn't namecheap automatically renew your domain name if you allow them to and paid by credit card?

looks like it expired in May.
I haven't asked anyone but ATOT about it. I just literally found out like 3 minutes ago.
I haven't done anything with my site in a long time except maybe use it to host a few pics. i probably don't even really need it any more, but I'm paid for the web hosting until Feb. 2009.

Usually Namecheap holds on to them for a month or two and you can re-register it.

What QurazyQuisp asked! 😕

namecheap sends notices to the email on your account profile when it's near expiration date. How you can miss those are anybody's guess. You can try buying the domain name back from this enomnz company for a price.

No, namecheap doesn't auto renew your domain name. You can buy multiple years, but at the end of the term, it's free for all.

I would definitely contact namecheap...

One time they held on to one of my domains for a year after I let it expire. I never did reregister it, but it was in Namecheap's name with the ability for me to register it if I pleased.

I just realized I forgot to chang my account with namecheap to reflect my new email address, so I was never getting any emails saying that it was expiring or expired.

Nope you're SOL. There are several companies out there that camp out for expiring domains to resell them for $$$. They have people spamming verisign with requests to register the expired domain.

isn't there something you can do if someone is camping on a domain that is your own name? I thought I read something about that before.

I suspect that ENOMNZ INC is actually Enom, Inc., the domain registrar that Namecheap resells for (or at least they used to -- dunno if that's still the case). But why would Enom be holding it?

Only if they approach you with out any interest from you.

Like, if I purchased Microsoft.com before Microsoft Inc. purchased it, then I went to them and offered the domain to Microsoft for x amount of dollars. They could then go to ICANN and ICANN would hand over the domain to them.

I think he's trying to re-register the womenz.

I missed it one year with namecheap. Probably sent me a dozen emails saying it was about to expire, but I ended up being busy the last two days and forgot. I immediately messaged them, and they were able to get it back because it was still in limbo (despite some random advertising firm taking it). If it has been since May though, you're pretty much out of luck. ICANN has procedures, but it'll cost you $$$.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Nomz, nomz, nomz.

The dingo ate your domain.
