Dolphins save swimmers from shark

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Reuters) -- A pod of dolphins circled protectively round a group of New Zealand swimmers to fend off an attack by a great white shark, media reported on Tuesday.

Dolphins know and recognize we are the same species, it is clearly obvious that Flipper is the smarter species of the two.

I swam with wild dolphins off Key West a few years ago. No truth to the rumors, though . . . we're just good friends.
 
Meh, these Kiwis are a little late trying to capitalize on hero dolphins.

I mean, Flipper was routinely saving some poor hapless swimmer from sharks every week on TV.
 
And in reward for a job well done, they were captured, put in tanks and made to jump through hoops for the rest of their lives.

Sounds vaguely familiar...
