Dollop Method

Can someone explain or link me to a guide that shows this method? Also is it the best way to apply TX-2?

Dollop is just put a drop or a line of paste etc on the CPU and let then HSF spread the stuff out over the CPU. I have used both the spread and dollop method and it doesnt matter. For my CPU now I made a line down the CPU then mountd the HSF gave it a couple twists then tightened it down.

Thanks for the explanation.

So it doesn't matter if it doesn't cover all of the CPU? Just drop a line or a big drop in the middle if I'm understanding this correctly. How big should the drop or line be is what I'm having trouble picturing.

Here is a PDF for AS5 which is what I used, you can see the line method for my CPU. When I used the spread method I put a drop about the size of a piece of rice them spread it over the CPU, im sure putting a rice size drop and just mounting and letting the HSF screws etc push the paste down would work just fine. I look at it this way either the spread method or the drop method the tightening of the HSF is gonna put the paste where it needs to go anyhow. Its just more important not to use alot of paste.

Whatever amount you think looks right, is usually too much. A dollop about the size of a grain of rice is usually good.
