Dollar Tree... How do they do it?

Alright... we've all seen the traditional cheap-o made in China crap qualilty type of $1 store, but Dollar Tree seems to have quite a bit of nice stuff really cheap... $1 to be exact.

For example... what I can remember

Phd pencils, the ones that go for $5-7 at most places were at Dollar Tree... for $1.
Box of Chocolates, like those Russell Stover types, same price
Long-tip lighter things, same ones at safeway for $3.49, you can guess the price
6 pack PenTech gel pens
Pregnancy Test (wtf?!)
Cell Phone plastic faceplate

I'm sure you guys can add to the list of hot deals.

So how do they do it? I know they have their own "Dollar Tree distribution"... these labels seem to be on just about everything. The locations aren't out in the middle of nowhere like Wal-Mart either.

Dollar Tree kicks ass! Who cares how they do it as long as they do. I'm sure it's some alien plot to farm us like animals or something, but I don't care because it's worth it.

Lol... I think they are trying to get you to buy a bunch of stuff you don't really need. I went in today looking for a legal pad... Spent $68.

Or maybe its the fact that a lot of the stuff is a rip-off... Like a travel size shampoo or a sheet of stickers for $1. If enough fools buy the bad deals, I can keep cashing in on the good deal.s

dollar tree around here is some asian owned franchise that rapes people for check cahing and "payday loans"
they do it by charging like 30-40 percent interest for short term loans and like a 10 percent fee for cashing checks.

don't see why anyone with a brain would even walk into that type of place

my bad!!! i was thinking money tree, sorry...
you know the commercials, stupid caterpillars in the money tree...

if you are all talking about a dollar store, never seen one here in washington...

I saw a thing about how stores like that have food and toothpaste and stuff that don't meet US standards but they still sell them. I wouldn't really trust food from one of those places anyway....

Dollar Tree and 99c store etc pay the same prices on most stuff that the big stores do. The big stores just mark up the prices more.

Yeah I'm always skeptical of the food.. but everything I'e seen was well within the "good before" date.
