Everything in the store is $1.

i bought USB to mini-usb connector, but had no change on me. $1 + tax = $1.05, and i didnt want to carry .95 in change in my pocket, so i charged it. They dont accept Mastercard, but accepts Visa?!

There was a time when the best credit card (Citi Dividend Platinum Select) was only a Mastercard. Now I think they have Visa and even American Express versions, and it's no longer the great card that it used to be.

Gillette Stadium is the same way. I found that out the hard way at the game last thursday and had to use my debit card because it's the only visa I had.

I don't understand why one and not the other. They're basically owned by the same people, aren't they?

No, two different companies. I assume at Gillette, Visa is paying them extra for exclusive rights. Just like the Olympics.

Makes sense. I just thought it was annoying.

I love how those assholes pay off venues to only take their card, then put up commercials about how much better they are because you can only use their card there.

Our Sam's Club only accepts mastercard, debit card, and their own credit account(used to accept Discover too-still might but I am not for sure as I don't have a Discover Card so I haven't really paid attention in a while), no Visa though. Our Dollar General Store only accepts cash and debit cards, no credit cards.

That's what you get for not carrying $.95 in your pocket.

Sams Club only takes MasterCard. Oh no, let me create a thread and whine about it.

My WaMu debit card is a Mastercard. Of course, I also have a Visa and a Discover credit card.

It's weak but come on, it's a thrift store. Be glad they accept any form of plastic. Also, did you see if they accept debit?

Some stores have agreements w/ CC processors to only accept certain kinds of cards. I know Costco only accepts AMEX. Though I find a dollar store unusual to be Visa exclusive. Maybe because all the EBT/food stamp cards clear thru the visa network?

The Dollar General Store near me only takes Visa. They just started about a year or so ago. Before it was cash, check or debit card.

Fine, let's sit here and argue semantics. You're right, it's not a thrift store in the traditional sense of the word, it's a thrift store in the practical sense in which is that it's a store where people shop seeking bargains. Does that change the point of my post? Nope.
