Dollar a month for razor blades?

i have like a 40 pack of mach 3 razors. 1 blade lasts me almost 3 months and I shave every other day or so. so thats like 10 years of razors so 10*365=3650/40=91.25 cents per blade and thats a 4blade quality razor

How one of those lasts 3 months for you is mind boggling.

I'd shave once with a Gillette Fusion blade and the second shave wouldn't be as good. The third was getting pretty bad. By the fourth I wanted to toss the blade but I'd live with it for a while longer just to save dough.

Went with a safety razor. Lifetime is less per blade, but the blades are a lot cheaper... (It is still a shitty experience overall though. It doesn't get close. Shaving with the grain and across just never can get that close on my face.)
 
3 months when using every other day? You must have the finest softest hair ever, I couldn't even get a week of every other day use out of that blade.
 
I switched to a double edge safety razor recently.

I got 100 blades for $8 off of Amazon. That's 8 cents a blade. They last me for three shaves, so ten blades per month = $.80.

Compared to the link in the OP that is actually $3 ($1 + $2 S&H) for five two blade cartridges a month. Not such a great deal. With the DE razor you're getting twice the blades (since each has two edges) for less than a third of the cost.

And I'm not contributing any plastic to landfill so the libruls should love me.

I can do this as well and I have thick hairs/fast growing. I shave in the shower with high humidity and no cream.
 
Great video!

My facial hair is so thick that I go through blades like crazy. When I go to the barber to get a straight razored they have to do it twice to get it smooth.

I'm kinda picky so buying generic blades has never really been at the top of my list. I've used shitty blades before and it just cuts me to ribbons.

What the fuck? 1 blade lasts you 3 months? Are you 6 years old? You know when I was a little kid I shaved too but I didn't use a blade. You can take it off son and use those bubbles as shaving cream all bath long!
 
after going DE a couple of years ago...i only buy shaving cream. i bought a sample pack of razors and keep a thick beard, so just shaving to stay clean looking doesnt eat through the blades. theres probably 30 or 40 blades left in the sampler.
 
I love my DE razor and brush, but I use these for times when I need to quick shave. http://www.dorcousa.com/ the same quality and anything you will find from the name brands and super cheap.

Pair that up with some sandelwood cream and skin food and it's a great shave. I'd use my DE razor every time except it takes me 15-20 minutes to get a good quality 3 pass shave. I can do a quick 5 minute shave with a mach 3 style razor and run to that meeting I'm late for.

Do you resharpen the blades?
 
nope. Maybe im just not as picky as you guys when it comes to shaving? Maybe its not as sensative for me who know.

I dont have super bushy beard but the hair is thick and coarse
