I am shopping for a pair of Dolby Headphones due to the fact that my current system sucks, and I dont have the room for a conventional 5.1 setup. I have found 2 different sets that I am considering, but I am having trouble deciding which ones I want. There's the Pioneer SE-DRI800C's for $300 and the Sony MDR-DS8000's for $500. For the price, the Pioneers seem like the best bet IMO, but I haven't found any reviews for either. Does anyone have either of these that they could give me their impressions on? It'd be greatly appreciated.

I'm not quite up to speed with headphones but i think 5.1's are only good for gaming and high end cans are better for music.

It would be for gaming and watching movies. I couldn't care less about music.

PM'ed YOyoYOhowsDAjello to this thread. I have heard, for my part, that 5.1 headphones are just a gimmick. A good pair of stereo cans (Sennheiser, Grado, Beyer etc) should give excellent positioning anyway.

Agreed..the guys on Head-Fi should help him out a lot. If I was gonna spend that amount of money, Id just get some Sennheiser HD650s/HD595s.

Well, I'm not much of a headphone guy, but it seems like getting a quality pair of headphones and then doing positional audio from your soundcard (X-Fi seems like it has some nice effects) would be a better bet for gaming, and especially music.
