Hey, I'm thinking about putting a crystalfontz LCD on the top of my comp. I have the X-pider case and the only good place to put the LCD would be on the top of the case, so I can just look down at my case and see it. Anyways, I probably won't be doing this mod, but hiring someone else. I have a few questions...
1. How much would someone charge for something like this? Its pretty much a quick dremmel cut and some wiring.
2. How do you connect this internally? On the crystalfontz site, all they seem to have are serial plugs, isn't there a header I can connect it to on my mobo, or will I have to run the wire outside of my case (and look very ugly)?
3. Which screen do I buy? I want a blue backlighted one, a decent size and it has to connect internally (if possible)? Anyone know which one I should get?

Thanks for the help.......

Matrix Orbitals seem like the popular LCD screens. As for Crystalfrontz, I'm not too sure about them. Anyway, I think they need to be plugged in from the back and it wouldn't look too ugly considering you have a million other wires coming out of the back of your computer. I say you do it yourself, do a few practice cuts on some metal and then do it on your case. I'm sure someone will charge you a pretty penny for service.

Matrix Orbital's graphic LCDs seem a lot more user friendly, however they are not the kind of colors I want, plus they seem smaller than the Crystalfontz LCD's, anyone know of other manufacturers?

I've got a CF 634 and the LCD is awesome, the software people have written sucks. The MO lcdc software ownz! That's just MHO though.

As far as the ugly wires go, I use a USB 2.0 PCI card that has an internal USB connector. I hacked up a serial --> USB converter and wired it to the LCD...it works like a million bucks.
