Dohh: Is this common, every single item at Sears overpriced at register

I went on kind of a tool shopping binge today at Sears. New Torque wrench, some screwdrivers, hammer, impact driver, some pliers. Most of these items were on sale, some were not. At the register every single one of the items was incorrect when it was rung up. Sometimes by almost 50%. I am glad I noticed, and I am sure some people wouldn't have.
 
I asked my son, and he said it happens all the time. It's due to signs not being taken down after a sale, sale prices being put on the shelf, before it's entered into the computer, and/or somebody not getting it entered into the computer in the first place.

He also told me that anybody who notices these signage discrepencies is to be given a few dollars off, but that's rarely done, because it happens so frequently!
 
I haven't trusted Sears' pricing practices for many years. I used to shop there a lot until I realized that often their "sale" prices were higher than the regular everyday prices on the same merchandise.
 
FIgures.the only reason I go to Sears these days is for Crafstman tools. The rest of the store pretty much sucks.
 
They have a store policy (or at least used to, when I worked there) that you got at least $5 off if their item was overpriced when it hit the register.

Chances are, some sales associate forgot to take down the signs. Ever since they started killing commission jobs in favor of hiring unmotivated 16 year olds, the store has started to go downhill. Craftsman tools are still excellent, though.

I think they just need to hire competent retail people who can do the job right the fist time. And, no, I'm not just picking on Sears. *Most* retailers have issues at one time or another.

 
I find Kohl's does this too. They advertise "50% off everything on this rack" but don't give you SKUs. So there's no way you'll know if your stuff is priced right until you check out. And then I am hesitant to make a scene, so then I have to walk back to customer service, all while waiting. It pisses me off.
