D'OH!

Hello everyone, I'm posting from my fathers computer since my computer refuses to do anything correctly 🙁 I've pretty much backed up all important files on my computer to multiple CD's. The problem started when I tried AdsOff (an advertisement killer) which worked beautifully. The only problem was that it was having trouble cooperating with NetSetter (a internet booster thingy), and I decided that I'd rather use AdsOff than have my dial up connection go a little faster. So, I get this alert from my NetSetter program asking whether to either Keep or Remove NetSetter. I choose remove, it takes me through a couple of installation screens (which were online) and says that it has unconfigured NetSetter from my browser and computer and that I should restart.

I restart my computer, BAM, there are ERROR's up the yin-yang. I can't open an IE window now because theres always an error, the only thing left to do is resort to some of the Compaq Tools and trying to use the Rescue Discs I created with Norton (which also is going haywire). So you might not see me online much since I'm going to be downloading a lot of files that I can't find the .zips or .exe's to install them so that means re-installing once again 🙁

I'll stop rambling on and wasting your time, just a suggestion that if you are ever going to buy Compaq, get the 3 year warrenty 🙁

Yeah, I don't think it's the hardware though. It's something on my harddrive. I think we only have a 1 Year Warrenty and other than a few Win 98SE Recovery Discs and a few phone calls, we've got nothing out of that warrenty.

<< that sucks man, just don't get made and throw it out the window or something >>

You don't know how tempting that sounds. What sucks is I'll probably end up installing NetSetter because my dad's computer (which has the same connection) connection stinks w/out NetSetter 🙁

Becareful what you download/install/delete. I hate having to reformat and reinstall when I'm not prepared, sucks.

Yes, reformatting when you weren't expecting it does stink. I fired off an e-mail to NetSetter explaining my problem a few minutes ago, I wonder if they'll ever get back. I guess I can take this time to catch up on summer reading or something.
