3 days ago I went and bought an Acer 22" widescreen LCD. About an hour ago I was walking toward my computer with a glass of grape juice, tripped on something, stumbled a few steps, my glass hit my desk and some juice ended up all over my keyboard/mouse/cell phone and most importantly this brands new monitor. I quickly start soaking up the liquid around the edges of the monitor but I know there was some there for atleast a few seconds. I cleaned up everything else but I'm worried about this monitor. So far I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, no dark spots, no dead pixels, it doesn't look any different. But should I be worried, and is there anything I can do?

Not sure how easy that is with this particular monitor, and opening it up will void the warrant. Of course, returning it if it fails after spilling grape juice on it is probably warranty fraud in itself.

If you just splashed the front of it, the innards are probably OK. The only thing likely to have problems would be the front-panel buttons if some liquid dripped down the front and caused a short in the controls.

Your screen would show immediate effects if it was damaged. If all the controls work fine and there are no stains, you have little to nothing to worry about (except possibly your warranty).

I got up about 8 and have been on it since and haven't seen any problems. The controls all work fine, the screen is spotless. The majority of the liquid was in the lower right corner so i've been keeping any eye on that spot but haven't noticed anything, i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

On a side note my Logitec MX610 is shot, the buttons stick and the wheel is so sticky its like trying to turn it though glue. My Logitech S510 keyboard was also suffering from sticky keys this morning. But I took the keyboard apart and ran the keys part over some warm water and that seemed to do the trick. After all is said and done, if I can come out of this with only having to get a new mouse i'll be happy.

Well after trying to figure out where the screws would be on my MX610 I gave up and ran it over hot water. Yes, you heard me correctly. I ran the wheel and the buttons that were sticking under some water for a few seconds till they loosened up. I then took a hair dryer to it and blew cool air on it and stood it up so the remaining water would drain out. I wait a little over an hour and went and put batteries in it and as soon as I put one in the green light came on. So that was a good sign, put the 2nd one in and it connected to my computer and is no working fine. No side effects at all. Kind of crazy. The monitor is still looking good, haven't seen any issues with it at all.
