I hate that feeling when the account is overdrawn. The first time I opened up a back account, I put and initial deposit of $5. After that, they never told me that I needed to keep a min running balance of $100. At that time when I was in college, that was my actual balance. Then they slapped me with a fee that was almost as much as my balance.

Also, I hate that when you deposit some checks it takes a few days to clear. That's really annotying especially if you really want the ca$h.

I hate that.
I did too a couple of weeks ago. Nice to have a mortage check bounce. Luckily I have that bounce coverage so it doesn't really bounce.
Always happens during a holiday week. My check goes in a day late, all of my bills get paid on Thursday (I usually get paid on Wednesday) and, bam $22 a hit.
Never fails too. They take out the $1000 payment then all of the little $100 payments so they all need the coverage. If it took out all of the little $100 payments and then the $1000 payment, no big deal, just need coverage on that $1000.
Could all of you PM me if a holiday is coming up so I don't forget about this again.;)

yeah.. thank god for overdraft protection...
I have seen people (I used to work at the bank) that got overdrawn.. and were charged for the OD fee and then were charge another OD fee because the previous charge caused them to overdrawn again. According to my bank that's 2 different transaction therefore that's 2 different overdrawn. I think that's F***ed up So I have seen people got charged as much as couple hundred dollars just from overdrawn one check.
overdrawn $25
return check $10
causing the account to go negative again
overdrawn $25
other bank tried to resubmit the check cause to overdrawn again
this cycle just keep on going until the account holder realize he/she is overdrawn and by that time he/she is deep in the $hithole.

if this is the first time, it doesn't hurt to go in and talk to the bank mgr or asst mgr. and explain what happened. ask them if there's anyway they could erase the charge, this one time.

worked for me before.

I was overdrawn I think once on my current checking account, but it had something to do with the bank making a mistake. It was a few years ago, so I don't remember exactly what the circumstances were, but I do know that they never charged me an overdraft fee. I was quite happy about that:)

I'd follow the above advice and talk with the bank manager. Can't hurt.
