The damned thing has been on my computer through various versions of Nero Burning ROM for two or three years now. This is the first time I've used it.

My Lite-On LTR-52246S CDRW is now limited to 40x read and 2 minute spin-down. What a difference! It no longer revs up to 52x then down to 40x, up to 52x and down to 40x, 'weeeeeee...errrrrrrrrrrr...weeeeeee...errrrrrrrrrrr', 10 times per minute as it fetches data during large file reads. Good GAWD that is annoying.

Now it maintains a nice constant (and quiet) purrr when reading. 52x drives are teh suck.

Where exactly do you find that option? I've been using a 52246S and Nero for a year now, and don't ever remember seeing anything called DriveSpeed.

I always use it to check that a burned cd is 100% quality. DriveSpeed is now called CD-DVD Speed.

Wrong utility. You're referring to CD Speed, the newest of which is called CD-DVD Speed (v2.11). CD Speed is a benchmark and testing utility. CD Speed I've used before.

I'm talking about the utility to set the read speed and spin-down delay of CD drives, and now DVD drives, with the newest version (v2.0). DriveSpeed is still called DriveSpeed.

Latest versions of CD Speed, DriveSpeed, and the Nero InfoTool can be downloaded from the CDSpeed 2000 Webpage.
