D'oh! I scratched the hell out of my new case! What kind of paint to use?

I didn't get any responses over in the cases forum, so I'll try here...this is really important, guys, so if you have any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Normally this wouldn't be too much of a problem, but I *just* got my spiffy new Antec case. Damn little screw floating around in the carpet. I kept turning and spinning the case, and I didn't hear the scratching until it was too late. Anyone had to paint their case before that WASN'T modding it? It's an SX-1030 case (the beige color, not charcoal), and I'm just looking for something to cover the scratches, not a whole paint job. Would hobby or modelling paint work? I'm trying to stay away from spraypaint, but I'll take other ideas and suggestions. Actually, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think the paint that Antec or any other case manufacturer uses is a powder paint that needs to be baked on, but I could be wrong. Unless you're a skilled painter I doubt you'll be able to reproduce the texture your case currently has and matching the color exactly probably won't work. You may want to consider painting the case over again if the scratches are big enough because I bet you'll notice your patch job.

Just my 2 cents.

Well, I'm just looking to do a touch-up and paint over the scratches (they are surprisingly straight and narrow, and not crisscrossing all over much), so I'm not worried about the texture of the entire side. If I can just dab some paint over the scratches, it will at least look better. Would hobby or modelling paint do OK on a metal surface like a case side?

heh, i was wondering the same thing. i bought an antec sx635, scratched it up a little bit (side panel has two slight scratches on it), and was tempted to rma it saying that it came scratched up. but i think i'll save myself the hassle and keep the case the way it is.
