dogs and bones

whats the smallest bone you can give a dog? specifically, a healthy one year old lab/german shepard mix? ive given him large porkchop bones, and that went well. what about chicken leg bones? thigh bones? i dont want him to choke, and i dont think he would on larger bones, but im not sure. hes the first dog ive owned, except for puppies for 2 months when i was 13. thanks!
🙂

From what I understand, Chicken bones (Not sure about the leg/thigh) are hollow. They could shatter and he could choke.

Buy him some treats?

he has some treats, but i was hoping to give him something better. i tear the meat and feed it too him all the time, but i know hed love that bone.

No chicken bones, they splinter to easily. You really shouldn't give him pork bones from a pork chop either, too small and very sharp pointy edges.

Some reading for you.

EDIT: Taken from a humane society PDF:

Do not give your dog bones unless you are working with a
veterinarian who can guide you in coming up with a natural food
diet that is also nutritionally complete. Poultry, steak, or chop
bones, which may splinter and lodge in the throat or puncture an intestine,
are the most dangerous. Large bones may also cause problems. An
intestinal blockage can result when a dog gnaws off and swallows many
small pieces of bone. Generally, commercially available sterilized long
marrowbones are safe and can be given to most dogs.
