I am debating on building/buying a dog house for my two dogs. Both are now outside dogs (one has always been, one went out when we purchased our new home). They have a huge fenced in backyard and both get along just fine.

One dog is a 11 yr old mix of pure sweet as can be dog(medium size dog). The other is a small 2 yr old Welsh Corgie. They both get along great and really enjoy each other...and they have never fought.

I live in the DFW area, so weather isn't really that big of a deal, but come January/February, it gets cold and I want them to be able to get somewhere warm. I want to build a nice insulated dog house that is big enough for both of them to share. This is why I am here.

What are the chances of the two dogs sharing the doghouse when the time comes? Both of them chill on our covered patio close together, but I want them to stop hanging out on the patio (thinking of screening it in...but that may be next year).

Do any of you have a single doghouse that two dogs share? Also, how do I get both of them acustomed to the doghouse and actually use it?

Lowes has a nice Cedar (insulated with a shingled roof that props up for easy cleaning) doghouse that is 34"L x 34"W x 50"H for $168 that I think would work great, but what do you think? Should I build a dual dog doghouse?

Haha you are on crack! There is a dog murdering storm right now. lol
And yes back when I was a barbarian who kept dogs outside to get eaten by rain monsters, they shared just fine.

I have had 2 dogs share with no problems. Just make sure they each have their own old, ratty blanket to keep them warm. My dogs did not like to share blankets.

We have two houses, one for each dog, but so far they both use the same one. Then again, one of the dogs is a super omega female and and likes to always be close to somebody else, so this may be a special case.

You might consider dividing the big dog house down the middle into side-by-side units, one side for each dog. That's what we did...
