Hey Everybody!

Last month, I found what appears to be a stray australian cattledog.

Kira is 1-1/2 year old, 40lb female cattle dog. Her coat is quite beautiful. She actually looks to be mixed red and blue heeler, since she has red and blue speckles across her body. She was found wandering outside Chrissie fields last month. Since then, she has been vaccinated and heartworm tested.

Kira is very affectionate and loves having attention. She bonds well with people and likes having them around her at all times. Her favorite pass time is to sit beside you or even curl up on your lap. She's does well around adults and teens and socializes well with other dogs, including smaller ones. She loves chew-sticks and uses up all her energy trying to lick peanut butter out from a kong.

She likes to keep active and loves to be walked. She is very speedy and agile, so keep up with her!

She currently knows the commands, "sit" and "down" and is learning "stay". I believe that she's very intelligent and will learn quickly. She's currently potty-trained at my house, and prefers to go outside.

She has a big doggie house ready to go with her, and even blankets to go with it..

She's definitely a sweetie and I wish I could keep her. I do hope that we can place her in a nice home. Let me know if you need additional information or more pictures.

If you're looking for a dog to be a part of the family or know of anyone who is, please let me know. You can contact me at lyrics_song@netzero.net or just PM me. Thanks everyone and have a great New Year's. =)

Thanks guys.. Any help is needed.. If you can help me post this ad up to several other places, I would greatly appreciate it.. We're giving it till the 13th of January for someone to take her.. Otherwise, we have to take her to Animal Control where they do NOT have a no kill policy.

Did you have her scanned? There's a few different chip makers that vets use and sometimes a vet may only have one brand of chip scanner to id them.

Bump for a HOT deal. We are in Phoenix, and just got a new Australian Sheperd, otherwise we would consider the drive for a good cause...

As a last resort, you may want to visit This site. They have a list of no-kill shelters across the US. I'm not sure if any are near you, or if they're accepting new dogs, but it's well worth it IMHO.

Well I have two Australian Cattle dogs. They are VERY intelligent dogs and learn commands very well. They are great with children and usually other dogs. They LOVE to chew things and if you don't give them "good" things to chew, they tend to chew the "bad" things alot. They chew on trees and branches so any young saplings in your yard may be reduced to sticks buried in the ground. :)

But, if you just give them lots of attention and love, they are the best dogs in the world. They are so intelligent that you need to give them something to do during the day. So a stay at home type of person would be the best for this breed of dog. Kids are great too because both kids and dogs tend to have boundless energy. :)

I would take the dog myself, but we have the two already and live in the San Diego area. But if you are looking for a companian that loves to go everywhere you do, these are the breed.

And a special bonus. If you have cats, they love to herd them around the yard, so make sure that if you do have cats, that they love dogs in turn, because otherwise your dog will annoy the heck out of the cat as it tries to herd it through the yard.

She hasn't been exposed to cats yet but she's been with a small puppy and gets along very well with her. Kira gets along with most small animals. She's extremely friendly to all.

Please help guys.. Someone was interested earlier and when I contacted them, they changed their minds.. I really don't want to bring them to the animal control center.. I don't want to have to live with the thought knowing that I had one of the my dogs put to sleep because no one could offer her a good home.. Any help is needed. Thanks guys.

Why don't you ask animal control if there are any no kill shelters in your area? You could even try contacting a groomer. Sometimes they know people/shelters that will take animals until they can be adopted.
