Huerta said illegal detention is a relatively minor crime in Mexico, and that if Chapman is convicted, he would likely only have to pay a fine of several hundred dollars.

Let's hope it turns out that way (small fine)

I knew you'd say something if I said that... so predictable and it wasn't even directed at you . You said anyone who doesn't take his side is scum, Mexico obviously doesn't, therefore, they're Mexican scum? Get it, got it, good.
You "knew" I'd say something so therefore you were baiting me.

Good job. You play the game well.

Actually that would be awesome!

Every week they could provide a clue to his location while a crack team of bounty hunters tries to find him. Sort of like the Running Man but without all the killing. If he makes it an entire season he wins and doesn't go to Mexico.

Personally, it's great that the scumbag he brought back is (and will remain) in jail... but the bottom line is that you can't just go to another country and ignore their laws, do as you please, kidnap people, and then complain when they want to toss you in prison.

I'm guessing he would normally not have gotten extradited, but the US does not want Mexico to stop extraditing drug lords and other such ilk, so they'll throw the Mexican government a bone (Dog - har har har).

he broke the law. If you knew someone was going to commit a crime you couldn't just walk up to em and shoot em or something. You call the proper authorities. He deserves to go to to jail; he broke the law. Just like the people he hunts

kidnap people? the bastard was a muirder and a wanted felon!

Serial rapist...

And yeah, this is BS. He was actively hunting women in Mexico when he was caught. Mexico should give Dog a medal for getting him out of their country.

Eh, call it a hunch that I know 99.9999999999% of the Internet population is confrontational and I didn't suspect that you'd be an exception :p. They also tend to fail at logic like why I'd call you a Mexican scum when I don't know if you're Mexican or scum (as your statement obviously doesn't apply to yourself if you made it... that'd just be silly :p).

Right, there are never exceptions to anything, nothing is ever grey, it is always perfectly black & white. Must be nice in your world.

It's amazing.

He went to mexico to capture a tried and convicted felon because mexico wouldn't extradite him.

Mexico had him extradited because he kidnapped someone.

Way to protect a rapist and hunt down someone who put a rapist back in jail.

The fact that Luster was a bad guy still doesn't mean someone has the right to go into Mexico, ignore it's laws, and take unlawful actions. Yeah, on a personal level its good to see a guy like Luster brought in, but we can't have bounty hunters from every country just willy-nilly going into other countries and kidnapping people because they are 'bad'. Dog basically acted like a vigilante, and he should pay the price.

Chapman, who is now free on $300,000 bail, faces up to four years in a Mexican jail if convicted. But his Mexican lawyer, Jorge Huerta, doubts he would get the maximum. Huerta said illegal detention is a relatively minor crime in Mexico, and that if Chapman is convicted, he would likely only have to pay a fine of several hundred dollars.

Hopefully he only gets the fine.

No one in the right mind will say that rapist didn't deserve to be in jail.

In the other hand, how do you feel if some bounty hunters from another country come to the US and do whatever they please to catch the bad guys? <just like Dog did in Mexico>.

The whole problem is this huge double-standard that exists. Mexico wouldn't extradite a wanted rapist, but we're willing to throw them somebody? What law did he technically break, since Luster couldn't have been a Mexican citizen at the time, hence any protection by Mexico laws would be forfeited?

If a rapist from the US was up here in Canada (I'm sure some are) and a bounty hunter from the US came up here and dragged the bastard back over the border, well I would say 'thank you sir, thank you very much'.

Moral of the story: bribe the Mexican police and federalis whenever possible to avoid getting in trouble.
