Dog shows: are they about the animal or the man?

These dogs shows drive me nuts. I've tried to sit through one but I always find myself scratching at the door wanting to be let out. The human owners get all the glory, the money and the interview time. It's all about the owners!! The lowly dog gets ripped off IMO and they don't even give them bones on camera! Where are the damn animal rights activists when you need 'em? :|

That's one option. ;) No, the whole endeavor is stupid and I truly can't believe it's so popular. A dog is a companion. Training is fine but I draw the line at exhibition.

It's all for the owners/handlers.
Somehow dog shows remind me of beauty pagents for children, again it's all for the parents. It's yet another way for people to say "hey I'm better than you" , "because I can breed/train a dog better than you". Or in the case of child pagents, "breed/train a child better than you".
Some sort of twisted, legal Munchausen by Proxy, but without the injury (well that's debatable too).
