Dog Problem

I say just let her go. It obvious she does'nt like you much.

My wife had a goofy little dog when living with her parents. It could get out of a choker, but it took a couple minutes. That is the proper collar for training, though. Honestly, I've got no use for an animal that won't mind you. Option1 is on the right track. The dog ought to be taught to listen and obey, with or without a leash on.

Exactly why I said a choke chain won't work. Maybe you need to tie it up like a mummy.

The mummy idea is obviously on the right track then. However, given your description she'll probably just undo the bandage.

Therefore, it's necessary to move onto the next stage - yep, that's it, the biggie - Plaster of Paris.

Just don't forget to include little wheels so that you can take her out for a drag now and then.

Failing that - taxidermy might be your next viable option.

Seriously though, maybe you need to discipline her a little more when she tries the escape tricks.

Instead of a choke chain, try a pinch collar. They look like medieval torture devices, but they ABSOLUTELY work. They are similar to choke chains but have little prongs pointing into the dog's neck. When the dog pulls on it, it pokes him/her, and it does hurt. My dog is very wary of that collar now and obeys perfectly when she's wearing it. The advantage with your dog is that the little prongs should hold her tightly enough without any pressure that she can't slip out of it.

Petsmart actually has them -- here is a picture. Make sure you buy a good one, though, as cheap metal collars have been known to break before with strong dogs (though that might not apply to you, it certainly does with our Ridgeback). Our dog trainer recommended a German company's collars and specifically recommends against anything made in China or Taiwan. She is a nationally reknowned Australian shepherd trainer so she has some experience to back her opinions.

Good luck! We thought about getting a Basenji -- pretty dogs. The biggest advantage is the lack of barking.
