yes I know you're not vets but I was wondering if you guys have ever come across this..

A 4-month old basset hound pees almost every 15 minutes but all she drinks is 2 small cups of water a day. When she sees people or even her toys, she likes to take a piss too...

Is this a sign of problems or do puppies often get excited easily like this ?

A lot of dogs do it when they get excited, but that seems a little excessive. You should probably talk to a vet.

Vet costs $40 a visit so we didn't want to go for a common problem... just wanted to hear what you guys have to say first...

Know of any good puppy forums ?

She suffers from incontinence (obviously) or a bladder/ urinary tract infection....maybe? I'm not a vet but I've had dogs in the past and I've heard of those things being associated with your dog's problem. It could be something entirely different in your dog's case, though. Sorry I'm not much help :(.

Is it just little dribbles or is it a full-blown whiz?

Most likely this is just a puppy behavior, but also it is likely partially because she isn't fully house broken yet.

If she has to piss every 15 minutes, take her outside every 15 minutes until she does her thing. When she starts getting the idea that you aren't budging until she does her business and either going right away or giving you an indication that she doesn't have to go (wondering around, laying down, etc.) then bump it up to 20-30 minutes... then slowly bump it up. If she regresses, start back at the beginning. When you can't be around her, you should put her in a cage or crate of sorts. Dogs will ONLY urinate and deficate in their bed as a last possible resort, unless your dog has some serious mental problems.

Your dog has UTI (urinary tract infection). It needs to be treated. Don't screw around - see the vet. You dog is probably in pain from it.
