The dogs generally go out between 6-7am weekdays and 8-9am on the weekends. If they bark, I'm typically at the door with a flashlight and a shotgun at ready because that means someone is in our backyard. There's a large difference in barks, though, so I know when they're just barking at our neighbors dog if they're out at the same time - but he usually bitches at his dogs, so mine shut up when his get quiet.

Honestly, I'm not sure what you could do - they're under no obligation to keep their dog quiet unless it's excessive. You're probably exaggerating it and how often it happens, but you could do a little investigation into your city ordinances to determine quiet times and if dogs violate them as well as the time period.

^ yes I was exaggerating. It's more like 4+ times a week and sometimes it happens at 7:12am instead. Thanksgiving morning it was 7:04am. I'm tempted to keep a log.

The fact that the neighbors don't care (even when asked nicely) that it's doing it when most others are asleep is what's the most troubling. Our master is unfortunately on the side of this neighbor. The other side neighbor has 2 dogs, who do not bark just because it's a new day. No we can't move our master suite to the other side of the house.

You know how people without kids get annoyed at those who let them run around uncontrollably? Yeah, that's how I feel here. Take it out for a fucking walk if you insist on getting another dog (the old one was fine about noise). You don't go to work until 845am FFS.

Do you live in a dorm? Or some strange place where everyone works the 2nd shift? Most working people are either getting ready for work or getting the kids to school by 7am...at least during the week.

I mean, I understand to some degree though. Never getting to truly sleep in does suck over time, and a better dog owner and neighbor would have the barking controlled.

I let my 2 out at 7am.

I live in a rural area, so no big deal, and they don't bark. So nobody even notices them. The people across the street (100+ yards away) have an Alaskan husky dog sledding team with 20 dogs + some other dogs. They howl at the moon like wolves. I suppose at first it sort of bothered me that I could hear them. Then I realized I was being a crab-ass and stopped letting it bother me, and I noticed I could sleep much better since I wasn't working myself into a frenzy over the noise. I don't even realize any of their dogs anymore and its 4 years later.

"What time in the mornings do you let your dogs out to do their duty?"

Before work. Sometimes that's 9am, sometimes that's 7am.

Then find out your noise ordinance laws and go from there. Like I said, there's not much you can do when it's an inconsiderate neighbor other than getting involved in a petty war.

So the barking just because it's let out is not normal, right?

I just don't understand inconsiderate people.

..usually a problem with inbred "trophy breeds" like a chocolate lab. To get that "trophy" characteristic other negative attributes are ignored like nuisance barking or hip dysplasia. My neighbors choc.lab is a nuisance barker but after a few visits from the cops they got rid of it.

I let my two dogs out at ~6:30am during the work week. Leave them out for five minutes or so to do what they need to do. My male dog goes nuts when the neighbor's male dog is out at the same time (chain link fence separating them) otherwise they don't make a sound. I get home from work 5-5:30 typically and let them out again, and again before I got to bed.

What time in the mornings do you let your dogs out to do their duty?

I'm just trying to understand why my neighbor thinks it's ok to let theirs out every day at 7am (including weekends and holidays) even though it barks when let out. It's not a small dog bark either. I've already left a note once.

I do not care to be woken up at 7am, simple as that. Otherwise I don't mind it barking, although it is excessive throughout the day.

You're not up by 7am? Get your lazy ass out of bed. The dogs just trying to make you a productive member of society

You didn't notice I said weekends and holidays too?

My kids are on the bus at 845am. I work from home. 7am is still early and regardless, it's not nice to assume everyone is up at 7am and you can make any noise you want is it? What if you just had a newborn and can barely get any sleep as it is?

There are noise ordinances for 8am, and they get a letter if complained upon - but again I tried that. I'm not here looking for a resolution obviously.

My dog goes out anywhere from 5am til 8am he doesn't usually bark though. My neighbors dog barks like crazy every morning between 6am-7am. Sometimes it wakes me up but usually that means its time to get up anyway so doesn't bother me.

I like having a big scary sounding dog around helps keep other human creatures away from my truck.

What the hell is all of this 6am and 7am shit... My dog won't be happy with me once I get it -- woke up at 1pm today.

My dog goes out at 7AM. It doesn't really matter though, since every other house on the block with dogs leaves them outside, and two of them have dogs barking at 2-3AM some nights.

Doggy door = they go out whenever they want, 24 hours of the day. If they're barking, they're barking at something... that they should be barking at.

I let my dog out whenever he needs to go out. I've let him up at 2:00am before (since I was up). Usually it's at about 6:30am before I go to work.

My dog doesn't bark though.
