Dog owners

Just curious how long it takes your dog to go through a regular sized one.

We purchased one for our dog to clean his teeth and he went through about 1/4 of it in an hour. A significant portion of it is gone and I am concerned after reading about the horror stories online of dogs dying from it getting stuck in their intestines.

They are just like any other fake bone product that is edible.

I was searching around the internet and found some pretty sad stories of owners who have lost their dogs. The troubling part was I found a site that had pictures of a surgery where a large piece of one of these was removed from a dog's intestine.

I was just concerned because my dog was able to consume a piece about the size of a silver dollar in about 10 minutes.

hm they swallow em? i just remember i got some dentabone starch bone or something and my dog tore it to ribbons. musta not tasted like much since he didn't eat it, just left a mess. it shreded like bits of plastic almost😛 weird stuff. i stick with greenies and rawhide.

Even Greenies had this scary blockage issue.

WARNING: Very graphic surgery pictures

That is what worried me. The link is to the surgery that was performed on a dog who had a blockage.

So if Greenies and raw hides aren't ok what do other ATOTers give their dogs for dental health?

I just stick with milkbone items for treats. I have a lot of toys that my dog chews and spits out. some of the 'rope' based items floss his teeth.
