Dog Owners & car experts

My Dog is putting scratches on my paint on my car door from standing up on the window when riding in the car.

So two questions.

For Dog Owners, do they sell any type of dog accessory for cars that can be put on the door so he doesn?t scratch my paint.

And for Car Experts, do you think a Car detailing could buff out the little scratches.

im not sure how the dog is scratching the paint if all he does is stick his head out the window (even to get in all he does is jump through an open door).

but, yes you should be able to easily buff those scratches out

he puts his paws on the actual outside of the door while standing on the seat and as the car moves his nails are leaving marks by the door handle on the outside.

also glad you said it could be buff out.

I've run into that problem as well. My dog's of similar size, a Border Terrier (looks a lot like Benji) so he often stands on his hind legs and hangs his legs/paws out the window while we're driving around. On my old car I just flat out didn't care about the minor scratches. But I don't want my truck to get too dinged up just yet, although at the rate I'm adding dings it might not matter much longer. 🙂

One thing I've thought about getting is one of those big removable magnets that small contractors use on the sides of their vehicle; basically it's just a big, flexible refrigerator magnet. I haven't tried it yet, but it might be a decent solution.

you can get a harness that attaches to the seatbelt.

I tried that he gets all jumpy and starts to tangle himself on the seat belt. i found it that leaving him alone he is more calm.

Thats sounds like a good idea, i know what you mean and put it where his pawns usually go on the outside.

i was thinking of an invention where you put like a table cloth or some other material over the top of the door so he can scratch the paint and inside of the door, and have velcro on it to tie around the bottom of the door.. only problem it would block the window from going up and down.

General rule is if you put your hand in a sandwich bag and then rub your finger over the scratch... if you can feel it then it can't be buffed out.

Why not just leave the window rolled up a little more so the feet stay in the car but he can still stick his nose out?
