Only if you expect your dog to be in the hospital often.

Well I think its pretty reasonable to expect that your dog isn't going to have any serious problems until it is old, and if it has problems before then, chances are they will be chronic, and the dog wont live long anyway.

So if it costs more than like $5 a month, it probably isn't worth it.
