Dog GPS tracking

I saw this thing on the new today, but they never gave an address and google didn't help much. I'm wonderin if anyone knows of a good way to track a dog not necessarily gps,(maybe an RF kinda thing) My GF has a little Rat Ter dog so it would have to be kinda small since the dog only weighs 10 lbs. Just curious if anyone has any experience with it.

too big to fence (about 400ft), and the dogs only 10 pounds a shock would probably knock it out

vets can tag dogs with some kinda radio tag... dunno how much of an option that it is.

The vet I talked to puts a chip in the dog, but you can't track it, its just for ID incase they lose their collar/tag
