My friend's dog (I think it's an Akita) has had ear problems for years. She scratches her ears a lot and yelps if you touch them despite everyday cleanings.
The dog lives in Taiwan, and whatever the vet gives her over there doesn't seem to help. My friend bought some "over the counter" ear mite stuff at Wal-Mart the last time she was in the States, and she says it works better than what the vet gave her in Taiwan. She asked me to buy her more...
My impression (from my sisters who own dogs) is that you can treat this problem and make it go away permanently. I'm told that (prescription) Otomax works very well, but I need a prescription from a vet... as I said, the dog is in Taiwan, and they seem not to have Otomax over there.
1) Does anyone have a suggestion as to what "over the counter" stuff works well for ear mites?
2) Alternatively, is there a way to buy prescription dog medicine without a script? I mean, I think it's just antiseptic, right??
