In china they eat dogs, in africa they eat bugs, etc. Culture people...

i think it's more of how it's done though.

for example, a "traditional" but no longer practiced way of cooking goose was to feed the goose wine while cooking it alive in oil. the goose would get dehydrated and want to consume more wine, which in turn flavors it more.

as long as it's not cruel and unusual, as you said it's just culture. we eat cows and chicken. they eat dogs. in africa people eat bugs, etc.

The lobster thing is equally as cruel. I never agreed with it and I'm surprised it's even legal here. We are better than that and should not accept that as being normal. Some say they can't feel pain, but how the hell do we know?

Chicken are also subjected to similar abuse. Some slaughterhouses don't kill them properly then they are thrown in a vat of boiling water to remove feathers. There really needs to be tougher regulations. On the other hand, you put too much regulations, and these food processing companies just move their operations to China. So it's a touchy game.

In general though it's not as bad here as in China, but it's not perfect here either.

Those lobster do suffer for 10-30 seconds. But they are awfully tasty when dipped in butter.

I saw a video that was smuggled out of South Korea. In the video they were hanging the dogs before they killed them. They would hang the dog and let the rope go. Then they would do it a few more times before they killed it. Why? To get the dog to become excited. Supposedly this makes the meat tender.

They also believe that baby fetuses consumed in a capsule will give them strength and vitality.

They sell them in the black market often.
