Doesn't the Value support 4 speakers?

Hi, I just replaced my MX300 and was kind of surprised: I thought that u can use speakers along with headphones like the MX300. Isn't that the case?

there are 2 output jacks on the value

2 for the front
2 for the back

then you enable the back speakers with your liveware software.

can the jack for the back speakers directly emulate the front speakers even when just playing stereo tunes?

I'm thinking of using the second line out to record to my MD

I had a Live! (sent it back). One of the things I didn't like is you couldn't do stereo X 2 like the MX300. This means stereo sound out of the front and rear jacks. It could only do "front" sound and "rear" sound. At that time I needed this functionality. I dont know if newer drivers ever fixed this or not.

Why on earth would you replace the MX300 for! They are like the best cards sound cards every made!

I might have to give this MX300 back to my friend soon (I have borrowed it for about 2 years, heh) and I was wondering what the main advantage of the SBLIVE 'DE 5.1' has over the 'Value' model??

Oldfart: Can't the SBLIVE do 2X Stereo? That would sorta suck, I like playing my MP3's etc with 4 speakers.

Hey, well the main advantage of the 5.1 series cards over the Value is that they do decoding of 5.1 audio channels. And with my value and 4 speaker system i can do 2 X Stereo, but that's a feature that's part of the speakers, not the sound card. I'm using Altec Lansing ACS 56's

well for stereo sources, my sblive value will just send everything to both front and back speakers

i'm not sure what else it would do other than that...

the other advantage the 5.1 has over the older lives is that if you have a speaker system/receiver that takes 5.1 inputs, the 5.1 can put things into all the outputs
and a 4.1 card will only give you choices of outputting tostereo and have simulated prologic, or outputting front left/right and rear left/right channels (with no center and no subwoofer)

Viper my friend, u have to agree that the driver support was unbeareable, specialy if you're a win2k user let alone KT133 users. The live in my opinion has better sound when playing music.

yes, the Live Value does four speakers in games and in stereo, you can have all the speakers going all the time if you wish.
