Doesn't the i850e use ICH2?

I was just looking at the stats on the Gigibyte GA8IHXP:

Intel®850E / ICH4
Promise PDC20276 RAID controller chip
Creative CT5880 controller chip
Realtek LAN chip
Super I/O: ITE I/O IT8712F chip
Smart I/O: Winbond Smart@ I/O chip
NEC 720100 USB2.0 controller chip

I thought the ICH4 for was for the new 845's and the 850E was supposed to use the ICH2. Is this wrong?

I'm pretty sure both the i845E and i850E get the ICH4 with USB 2.0 support. I have no idea why that board has a NEC USB 2.0 controller when the southbridge has it built in.

I found this at Toms hardware:

To save the time as well as money for a new round of validation, i850E does not officially support the new ICH4 southbridge that includes USB 2.0. Instead, except for the new 533 MHz front side bus, Intel wants i850E to remain pretty much like the slowly aging i850 chipset (which after all goes back to November 2000), using the slower PC800 RDRAM even though PC1066 RDRAM is available and the old ICH2 and only four USB 1.1 ports instead of ICH4 with its six USB 2.0 USB ports.

Offically, 850e uses the ICH2 and does not support USB2, however, there is very little to stop mobo makers from using the ICH4 with it, just like there is very little to stop them from claiming PC1066 support. This is da chipset to have:p
