I love it.. "I'm cured of using any form of the word "awesome dude" immediately following his rant where he says it 15 different times/ways! Classic.

Somebody get this guy on the Daily Show, stat...

I dont really care. I've been called the n word so many times. I don't use it myself. I don't really care if someone uses it against me. Again, I'm for complete free speech. If you want to call me that that's your decision. Just don't expect me to talk to you much.

I like how when they introduced the black kid, they made sure to say how good a student he was in order to confirm that he was, in fact, NOT a niggah.

It's okay to say "awesome dude", but you have to be someone who can get away with it and say it and use it correctly. I'm white, I've never used it in a non-joking way, but I've certainly been addressed that way a lot. Mostly when I worked in a factory, as it was just a way of addressing EVERYBODY. There was never any hostility surrounding the word, even when the white guys and mexicans used it - because they knew how to use it.

A white and old teacher using it? Probably not going to come across very well, especially in a classroom where teenage angst is bubbling aplenty, waiting for the cauldron to tip at the slightest prod.

I was just thinking that. He played football, and surprisingly, was also on Honor Roll. No niggah, indeed!

Sounds like an old fart who really didn't see anything wrong with it. Probably thought it was just slang that he heard the kids say everyday and had no ill intent.

Good for the teacher.

That kid isn't offended at all. Guarantee you that kid says it every day.

Such a bunch of garbage where whites can't get away with saying the same thing in the same context with the same light-hearted intention that the blacks do, but whitey gets nailed and gets news coverage.

Whatever.

I noticed this too. I was waiting for him to turn out to be the next coming of Jesus.

And it wouldn't surprise me if the teacher is not a racist at all. He probably said it as a slang joke, but the kid knew right away that it'd be a big deal - and just hearing a teacher use slang creates attention right away.

Darn it, I was watching the video waiting for him to say this.
"You know, when the administration said I was being suspended, I was thinking, '*****<<< please!"

Speaking of The Daily Show, where is their Senior Black Correspondant, anyway? I'm sure he could do a quick spot for that tasty cereal he debuted: "Honey, could you pass the ***** Please!" Damn delicious stuff. :D

Edit: And what the heck happened there with the highlighting? Crazy.

I guess we still have blocked words here, even just the slang version that the teacher used.

Agreed on both.

I've used it sometimes with friends, the intent was just like saying "dude" or "man" or whatever. I'd never use it outside of close friends though... cause then I'd be called a racist or get my ass kicked or some other asinine bullshit.

To me it's been said so many times and I've heard it so much that it's not racist at all and is the equivalent of "brother" or "dude" or whatever.
