That sounds awful. It really sucks when your car dies on you. Hopefully, it won't cost you too much.

Wow, that definately doesen't sound good.

It does sound like a rod knocking, but man.. I dunno. It would have almost certainly pounded itself apart...

I'd open the hood and stick my head under there, see if you can pinpoint where it's comming from. It could be serious, and it could be something stupid.

Sounds like you have a rod knocking... Looks like it's time to give that engine an overhaul or replace it. :(

If it is indeed under warranty, and the engine is about to self-destruct, then yes.. I would say it should be covered. :)

I bought an extended warranty when I bought my car (bought it used) and it went to 70k miles. At 68k miles is when the engine had to be rebuilt. All I had to pay was $200 or so for a tune-up and the fluids.

Yup, engine is dead. Unrepairable they say. New engine needed. They said a new Grand Am engine is $4000(the car is only worth $2500), a used one from a junkyard is $900. Warrenty will cover that, but they still have to find out if they will cover a new engine or just a used one. I'm not driving a car with an engine pulled out of a junkyard...if that's what they do, I'm selling it when the repairs or done. I can get an early 90's civic or camry or something that will be more reliable.
