Doesn't it suck when....

....you can't get the resources needed to do your job. I've been trying to get my hands on a spare server so I can install some new webmail technologies and test them out. I got a server today and installed SuSE Linux 9 on it and it got yanked last minute. Now, I no longer have a testing platform...

Luckily for me, they ordered me a 3.8Ghz Intel box with dual monitors for a new workstation that's due any day. As soon as that puppy comes in I'm going to load VMWare and have as many test boxes as I want. They can bite my ass after that.

I used to work for a company whose mission critical product that they advertised as having a guaranteed 99.999% uptime was run on ONE webserver. I kept trying to get them to buy a 2nd webserver so I could make it even a little more redundant. Eventually I got tired of their management shenannegans and moved to another (much better) company.

The old company no longer exists.

So you when you left the foundation of the company was shaken to its core. Awesome

Nah, it took 'em a while to die. But at least I didn't have any more sleepless nights worrying about crap happening to my underfunded network.

Now the network I work on is so robust I have to lose like 40 servers before anyone even gets remotely upset.
