Im shopping around for a Hauppauge WinTV 401 and everyone ships via FedEx or UPS. Would it help if I email some cust serv reps and explain the situation?

EDIT: I think buy.com may ship to USPS PO boxes. Can someone please confirm?

I wish UPS and FedEx shipped to PO Boxes but no matter what you do or say, they won't.

Your best bet is to rent a Box from someplace like Mailboxes Etc. FedEx and UPS will deliver to those places and there's someone there to sign for the shipment. Also you could call the Mailboxes Etc. and ask if your shipment has arrived yet, that's a nice feature the USPS won't do.

MBE prices are outrageous. Over here, they wanted like $50 for 3 MONTHS for the smallest box. USPS gave me a size 2 for $32.50 for 6 months. I started the thread you linked to anyway

Damn that's hella expensive. Do you have a family member/friend/co-worker who is usually home during daytime business hours?

Oh and I know you started that previous thread :p

I dont want my parents questioning my computer upgrade (TV Tuner, in this case) purchases, especially since we have 4 TV's in the house. My friends arent too reliable when it comes to these things either

Where in Illniois do you live? If you're close enough, you could have it shipped to me and pick it up. Check out the link in my signature for Heatware evaluations.

I live in Des Plaines, right next to O'Hare.

This is a long shot but do you have any pharmacies which have "service centers" that accept utility payments, make photocopies, key copies, UPS/FedEx/USPS shipping center? I live 2 miles from a locally owned pharmacy which rents Boxes for $30/6 months, even cheaper than the USPS. They do accept ALL courier shipments, FedEx, UPS, Airborne, you name it. Maybe see if you have a local place which doesn't charge up the ass to rent a Box.

you know what you can do? you can pretend you were really a moron like me when i shipped my case from newegg. i put half of my college address and half of my home address (those stupid autocomplete things ... never use them ... i scrolled through too fast). anyway ... what happened was the part that was my home address was the city and zip ... soooo fedex tried to deliver to a nonexistent address in my hometown. they called me and told me it didn't exist. i had to pick it up from the fedex store in the next city. wasn't too inconvenient ... but i felt like a dork.

Definitely. If you search hard enough you'll probably find one and hopefully at a decent rate. Here are some Des Plaines pharmacies to get you started. A word of advice, look for LOCALLY OWNED pharmacies not national/regional chains.

Thanks :D

Just make sure you're not home when they visit, they'll leave a yellow notice and you can pick it up at your local FedEx distribution center during certain hours (maybe you'll be at school/work?). That's fine as a temporary solution but if you're a true AT geek you'll get a Box at your local pharmacy so you can pay $299 just to say you're one of the few on your block to own this, then a few months later I'll find a Hot Deal and pay only $99 for it.

Stepping up from my current 8x4x32 to 40x12x40 would give me whiplash. When you do find it for $99, PM me:)

If you are working, have it sent to place of work.

However, some places will only ship the the address on a credit card.

WHen I called the post office about this, they told me that they DO take shipments from UPS and Fed EX, they just hold them behind the counter.

i work at a pharmacy that ships packages via UPS and UPS will not take a package that is addressed to a Post Office box. i don't have any idea why, but they refuse to take them. a lot of people get pretty pi$$sed off when you tell them that.
