But look at the prices. Think you can get a 4850 cheaper. Besides oem system build doesn't appeal.

Ok, I have been watching canadian, including the quickie surprise sales. Some good 4850 prices have floated by, but really would prefer the 4770. Bad move by ati here or they are counting their sales with glee.

did I mention the overclocks?
What gets me is the 4770 was released around here at great prices with bonus games to boot (ncix). Now that I have decided on a nice little system - nothing available. Still great prices on the 4850, 4870, 4890 - but for the above reasons not what I am looking for. Did I mention nosie?
Apparently the word about the 4770 has gotten out, as it looks like its sold out everywhere. I don't think ATI anticipated the demand for these.
Im going to lean towards 40nm issues.
I'm going to say a combination of both. A great seller, and 40nm issues. It's a good card for a good price. Can't take that away from it.

Same company, rumored to share a factory with Enermax and Topower. AFAIK not utter crap but not the best either. I purchased quite a few BITD when Directron was closing out the older 20-pin models. They have a nice heft to them and some interesting (at the time) features such as 140mm fan, fan that kept spinning for a while after system was shut off, fan modes, used finger guards instead of just stamped from the casing. Not bad for $20-30 sale pricing. AFAIK none of the ones I purchased failed. They were also pretty early on the scene with modular units.

Instead of going around in circles, can we just say that their initial allocation is probably dried up and everyone is waiting for more? I don't have the energy to watch another idiotic forum ego fight happen today over something as trivial as supply and demand.
