does youtube sometimes not load 720p/1080p videos for you?

For me its usually the opposite, when I click on a link it loads the low res at a snail's pace. 720p loads super fast. 1080p loads slower, but still way faster than the lower res usually does.

How fast is your connection? Would assume it takes a fair amount of bw to stream 720/1080, even tho it still looks pretty asstastic on YouTube.

Well I tried a few different vids @ 720p/1080p. Maybe it matters what server the vid you're watching is coming from?

Tested 5 of each.

Three 720p vids loaded about 5x faster than viewing speed, one about 2x faster, and one would just stick at buffering and never start.

All but one of the 1080p vids loaded about 2x faster than viewing speed, and one was 1:1 with the loading bar just keeping ahead of the viewing marker.

That's on WiFi tested at 16.74mbps.

Yes, but it seems pretty random and I haven't been able to figure out why.

This happens to me with YT all the damn time...although in my case it's both HD and SD, but HD seems to fail more often.

I've come to expect a partial load with every video...I actually don't get to finish a video that wont fricken load regularly. I'm sick of it.

If youtube had the problems you guys are having, I'd absolutely hate it like I used to.

Couldn't tolerate watching youtube before 720p+ vids arrived. The HD vids aren't even close to mkv quality even, but at least they are watchable on a big display.

I've determined that youtube just blows. 10MB connections, E4200 router, and an i5 computer should be plenty but still it lags and just sucks.

I've noticed some 720p/1080p videos will load pretty quickly while others will barely load at all.

I guess some "HD" videos are more compressed than others which could explain why some load faster than others.

Never had it fail to load, but have had it load only partially many, many times. That's even more annoying when you're totally immersed in a good video.
