does youtube have bad playback for everyone else?

Since the last Flash update, Youtube has been flawless for me. I wasn't having the issue you describe though, but that does happen from time to time.

I find videos off and on that load slow. I'm not sure how everything is stored for youtube. Some videos load very quickly while others are sluggish.

Most videos are utter shit for me. It only really seems to work at the lowest resolutions. It's a shame people don't realize there are other sites they can upload videos to.

I'm getting sick of the commercials mostly now. On popular videos you have to watch the whole thing.

I have been increasingly disappointed with youtube over the last 2-3 years.

What amazes me is that the fucking ads that pop up ever other fucking video some how magically stream like melted butter. But the videos themselves stutter and take forever to load.

Watching YT videos on my netbook are only a minor improvement over watching slideshows.

Starting maybe a month ago I've had a problem where I'll press pause and the button will even indicate as such, but the video and sound will continue playing, and I'll have to refresh the page to get it to finally stop. Some other mild problems with clunkier progress bar control and stuff too.

I was actually surprised when I first heard that, but then I remembered that I use Adblock Plus. :whiste:

Since I know someone will comment on it... I wouldn't mind giving websites their revenue, but I don't trust Flash ad content, and I absolutely cannot stand obtrusive ads that take up a ridiculous amount of your browser's render area. In regard to ad content, even Anandtech had a malevolent ad running in their ad rotation once. If I recall, they use an external ad rotation service, and sometimes stuff simply slips through.

Given how ridiculously buggy Flash is, I won't subject my PC to potential threats like that, and if Flash wasn't so damned popular, I would just uninstall it completely. I can deal with silly, flashing GIF ads telling me I won a free iPad.
