does your Swiftech GTZ CPU block make any noise?

i may be hearing a noise coming from my Swiftech GTZ block. i'm about 95% sure its coming from there since its not coming from any of my fans and i cannot stick my ear close enough to it to say 100% that its the GTZ and not my MCR320 radiator. but i'm leaning more toward the GTZ.

the sound isn't coming from my pump, nor any fans (fans turned off)

i cannot accurately say what kind of sound it is, but its something, its not a buzzing or something like air flow. maybe like a really slow spinning fan struggling for more voltage?

anyone know what this is? its either my radiator (can this thing even have any sounds?) or my CPU block (how can this have sound either? lol)

Sonds like you may have an air pocket in there, which is causing the water to slush around. My Rad did that the first time I fired it up, so I turned it around, upside down and sure enough, an air pocket was flushed out...been silent since.

could be coming from a component on your motherboard... such as an isolation transformer de-laminating... or maybe an inductor humming... are you overclocking?

if you are overclocking, try setting everything back to stock and see of the noise is still there?

if the noise goes away after going back to stock, then that would eliminate the waterblock and point more towards a component on your motherboard.

Make sure the rad is nearly full, or the reservoir, whichever, and see if theres a lot of air bubbles still in the loop. my pump and GTZ only gurgled the very first time as air was being pushed out, after that, there was no noise, during leak testing i can hardly tell the pump is on since its almost noiseless

HMM... why would this sound only come when i've fully loaded my CPU with OCCT/prime95? lol

please tell me its not a problem with my hardware, i'm trying to be stable at 3.915ghz

Cause you MB Voltage Reg's and Mosfets are straining with the current draw...

Stress on your board or powersupply.

yea it looks like it was some type of stress from my MB, i only get that sound when i'm running my high (3.6ghz+) overclocks. and i only get it at load at 3.6ghz+

RUN it's gonna bloooow  coulda been a capacitator on the mobo doing the buzzing sound, my vid card does it when it goes over 1000 FPS on game loading screens usually, its a lil higher pitch than what you were describing tho, but similar.

are those sounds on the motherboard bad? =x

i've never experienced them before. does that mean my MB's dying?

Could be a weak component or just normal operation. If it gets worse under more stress, i'd try to avoid overloading or overstressing in case.

How about a Q6600 @ 4.0GHz @ 1.48v on water?

Did that last May. No smoke. Just plain old stable.

Nice chips guys, with mine I did get 3.8 , 3.6 was stable with a pencilmod but I fried the board, a P5K-VM. I have a fetish for MATX boards 😱 so this limits my OC for the most part.

looks like i'm going to give up on my MB, first RMA: did nothing. flashed bios to new one that fixes "s3 resume problem" doesn't work. cleared cmos and loaded defualts: doesn't work.

i fail.

give up and buy which new P45 motherboard? ($100-$120 limit) hows the bloodiron? its a weird size... Pp5Q pro or UD3R?

Did you use deionized water by chance? Sometimes exchange resin beads can escape and get in the water during the post purification process. It would take quite the flow to make them become audible though.

hey, i already found out it wasn't my block, i'm fairly sure it was my MB squealing. i guess we'll see when i redo my loop with my new EP45 UD3R in place.

Coil whine/inductor sing, eh?

I had an 8800 ultra that was quite loud and I recorded that a while back and uploaded it and people played it back and did not want to use their computer for weeks claiming they needed an exorcism or something along those lines. 😉
