Does your start menu do this?

This is developing into a bit of a pet peeve for me. My start menu is set to hide programs that I haven't used in a long time. However, it often hides the programs that I -do- use while displaying the rest (i.e. for Trillian, it shows the readme link & the uninstall link, but not the link to actually run the program). I have to click the arrow thing to display what I need. It's getting annoying because I like it when it works (so I don't want to turn it off), but it's a hassle when it doesn't, and there's no consistency.

I was just curious if anyone else had the same problem?

You can always undo it. Right click the task bar and uncheck 'hide inactive icons.'

that applies to the system tray and not the start menu. you may try a program like powertoys Tweak UI. it puts all the registry settings and such into a graphical interface. makes it REAL easy to tweak all sorts of windows settings. Cant remember where i got it, but I still have the installer so you can email me or hit me on AIM for it if you want.

if you have trillian start up automatically, or you use a shortcut bad it will dissapear because it works bu what you actually click on in the start menu

Well, I wouldn't mind if it just disappeared entirely from lack of use (that's part of the territory). The problem is that the program group remains, and the icons that I've never clicked on are displayed by default, while the icon that I click on every time I start my computer is hidden...

ucdbiendog: I'll look into Tweak UI - thanks
