My girlfriend claims that she likes to watch people play video games. For whatever reason I feel like it's rude or something to just play a game and have someone watch. I love games, so I play them whenever she's not around.

Does your SO like to watch you play video games?

So your girlfriend likes when you to play video games while she's around and you're having a problem with this?

We either play co-op or take turns. Though, I prefer to just watch when the games get too difficult for me.

She's indifferent to it. I play my games while she's beside me on the other comp surfing the net or doing something with scrapbooking software.

The only time that she actually stayed with me for an hour to watch me play was with Prey.

She also watched me play Chicken Invaders because she wanted to learn how to play it and try to beat my best score.

We like playing with each other.

(yes, I said that)

I like to watch him play alone, too. ;)

I don't know if I want to keep going or not.

I like to watch him play with his jello. Alone.

My jigglers? I thought I was alone.

Yes. She does. We've discussed this at length - some of her friends do the same to their game-playing boyfriends. Apparently, there are 3 reasons why girls do it:

Singleplayer: They want the story, but can't be arsed to actually play the game themselves (they don't have the talent, understanding of game devices, motivation, or interest in that game type) - this is the case with my girl and watching me play Oblivion. She's been there for most of my 90+ hours of playing.
Multiplayer: This is similar to watching their man compete in a sporting event. It's always fun to watch him prove that he's better than someone else.

Or, they just want to watch the pretty flashing colors.

I actually know a lot of girls like that.

back in college, one of my female friends was obsessed with final fantasy 10. loved the characters, love the storyline, but hated actually playing the game. so she'd make me arrange times that I could play the game with her watching so she could follow the storyline :D

As long as I'm not playing something that will give her nightmares (Call to Cthulhu, anyone?) and it's got a decent storyline to it, then yes, she enjoys watching.

Of course, now that she's gotten her hands on my DS Lite, she's been hooked on Brain Age. :p

My wife will sometimes note when she likes the music but otherwise she doesn't pay much attention to me gaming.

when he is playing his flight sim game, i will talk in a british accent "would you like a beverage captain?"
I do not mind watching, but won't sit next to him or behind him and watch. that would just annoy.

For the most part when I was with my g/f she didn't. Although she ended up doing all the crash dealies in Burnout 3, because she like making things go boom.
