Does your PS3 reboot when exiting games?

I've noticed from time to time, when exiting games the ps3 decides to reboot itself, rather than exit me properly back into the XMB.

Anyone else get this?
 
Never, I have a launch 60GB.

That sounds like you might be about to win the 0.2% lottery and get a dead PS3 as your prize 🙁 . Is the fan running loud when this happens?


Edit: also if you have a bunch of saved games you care about, now is a good time to figure out how to use the data backup to USB flash or hard drive.
 
i've yet to have a single crash or anything with my launch 60gb. And GTA IV hasn't done anything yet, although I haven't played online yet. Is that where the freezes are occurring with the 60gb PS3s (in regards to the specific 'bug' supposedly between 60gb PS3s and GTA IV)

Mine will reboot itself if I exit while it is loading something or if in a cut scene (I think it has to do with the PS3 accessing the Hard Drive). If I exit during normal gameplay it will not reboot.

And I have a 40GB model, It appears to operating normally so I don't think the rebooting means I have a defective unit.
 
this has happened to me a few times only with hot shots golf. it only happens though when hot shots hangs up. sometimes i'll be playing online and i'll get disconnected and it'll hang at this "now loading" screen, and if i exit, the ps3 will reboot to get out of the game.

other than that i haven't seen it happen before, but it's happened probasbly 6-7 times in hot shots.

i got the 60gb one.
 
I guess I should clarify a little. It seems to primarily do this when exiting Orange Box, and not every time either, only maybe 5% of the time. I hold the PS button and select Quit Game, it comes up and says 'Please wait...', then I hear the beep and it plays the Orchestra Music as if it rebooted.

Its never done this in game, nor has it froze anywhere so its certainly a livable issue, but I suppose i'm the only one?

On a side note, my GTA4 doesn't seem to freeze on me like other report.
 
I only have GTA4 (new ps3) and yes it reboots fairly often when I exit the game. I thought it was normal? I do get errors message saying theres an error somewhere and I am being signed out of PSN though.
 
I have had the same experience with Uncharted and recently once with FIFA08. With uncharted sometimes it just gets stuck at the "please wait" screen and I have to do a hard reboot. Its a 60GB PS3 that I got in a garage sale for 125 bucks. So I guess its ok...lol

No reboots for me..i have a 60gb version also
 
Mine did this when exiting GTA4 during loading of saved game that wouldn't load. I had to delete the saved game. Haven't tried it since. My roommate also said there were a bunch of wavy lines when he was playing yesterday. In several games, but not the main screen. I didn't see it though and it didn't do it when I was playing.

I had the same problem but I could avoid the freezing by signing off PSN before loading the game.
 
I had a problem where GTA4 would not start. It would go into loading my last mission, as it always does, but just do nothing. Then the music 'runs out' and when I chose 'exit game' the PS3 rebooted.

That pissed me off.
