Does your place of worship maintains a dress code?

I recently went to a temple when the priest asked me to leave because I wore shorts. I left and never returned back to the place.

I think its bullshit when any house of worship wants you to show up in a dress code. I mean god made us naked right????

does yours too? How would you deal with it.

My parent's church has a sort of unspoken dress code. Its understood that you wear dress clothing, but I've shown up in jeans and tasteful shirts before and only got stares from some people. They wouldn't ask you to leave unless you were dressed in something inappropriate for the church. Clothing with rude/crude slogans, overly revealing clothing, etc.

Temple w/priests? Did you time travel back to Jerusalem before the Romans destroyed the temple?

Anyway, my church has no dress code. Come as you are, God only cares what's on the inside.

Yeah, because we all know the only religions are sects of Christianity and Judaism.

I apologize for not knowing about all religions. The first line of my post was meant as a joke, no offense to the OP intended. Lighten up.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Braznor. I got kicked out of a Southern Baptist church in Alabama for wearing blackface makeup. Some people.

Yup, chinstraps, ball gags, leather whips and chains permitted only. All other articles of clothing must be placed into a container prior to entering the premises, you'll recieve your articles of clothing when you leave.

I think our church has a sort of unwritten/unspoken dress code. Would you show up to a meeting with your boss, the governor, the President, or someone else with authority in shorts and a shirt? You're giving praise to your Creator, why show up in street clothes.

I used to worship the porcelain god, especially on Sunday mornings after being out all night. He never seemed to care what I wore and only asked that I clean him and flush him when I was finished praying.

Lately, I've been a follower of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and he prefers full pirate dress. Can't bring myself to wear that pirate suit out of the house though!

My belief is that you should wear whatever to church as long as it is not too revealing, offensive, in terrible condition etc. You should be respecful but shouldn't be required to dress only a certain way. As for shorts, I think it is borderline. People of all kinds are equal in god's eyes so everyone should come in and feel welcomed.

Honestly, the only way you'd get me into the church is if there were attractive female churchgoers who were wearing revealing clothes.

I think it depends on the church. Some it is come as you are - We're glad you're here. Others are different. To each their own.

Which is what happens during garbha events held in temples! Atleast here in Canada. 🙂

Anyway, I've gone to the temple in shorts many times and no one really cares. After all, if you go with genuine devotion, what you wear shouldn't be an issue and most priests understand that.

They have yoga classes for that.

Duh. If you don't wear a black robe and talk in a spooky James Earl Jones like voice while chanting, you have to pay for the pizza afterwards...
