It didn't used to but for some reason, i decided to use a usb->ps2 connector so whenever i turn off my computer, the mouse stays lit up... kinda eerie. what's the point of this or is it a glitch? (it's a microsoft intellimouse optical)

yup.. only when i have it connected to the ps/2 port. when using the usb port, my intellimouse optical turns off. i've had this for almost 6 months (since i got my belkin omniview soho belkin kvm) and it hasn't died on me yet. before my kvm, i just had it connected to my usb port.

that's just cuz the ps/2 ports are powered.. does this have something to to with atx power supplies or the motherboard. i dont mind. i also have a hotkey set so i can turn my pc on just by tapping on any key of my keyboard.

I've got a Logitech optical mouse and I'm using the PS/2 adapter. The little red light turns off with the computer.

Mine depends on my BIOS settings. When I disable hot-keys power up and some other soft start features, mouse light goes off. Often time though, this is dependent on motherboard. Mouse will stay lit as long as there is Vcc 5V present on its cable.

Here's the recipe.

PS2 interface + Wake On Keyboard support = constantly lit mouse.
USB interface + Wake On Keyboard support = dark mouse.

That's all. I have a Logitech Dual Optical; connected to USB it goes off with the PC, connected through the USB->PS2 adaptor it stays on.
