Does your monitor have to warm up?

I just bought a Viewsonic 19" CRT from newegg. It's nice but I have noticed that if I turn it off for an extended period (completely off with the power switch) the next time I turn it on it's ghosty looking for about 1-3 mins. Blacks are cloudy at first, but then it settles in and the color corrects itself. I talked to Viewsonic tech support and the guy said it just had to warm up.

I don't know, I'm thinking of returning it to newegg for a replacement. What do you guys think? Thanks

thats weird. However I noticed my Sony which was aperature grille like your Viewsonic did take some time (25 seconds) to warm up. The samsung which is shadow mask doesn't.

One to three minutes sound way too long. I've never used a monitor like that. It'll cost you a lot to ship the CRT back to NewEgg, so my suggestion is to live with it for now, and hope that it blows up within the warranty, THEN deal with Viewsonic.

My CRTs take longer to light up as they get older. Two NECs and a Viewsonic and none of them will come up until after the POST.

i guess i'm just going to live with it. too much to send it back to newegg. the 1-3 mins was an overestimation. it's more like 30 secs.

anyway, thanks for the feedback guys and gals.
