read my subject!

if that's the case, how do u protect your screen? Are there special devices or cloths we can get for laptops to protect the screen?

There were issues with this happening to Apple G4 Powerbooks. I bought a screen protector from here and I have never had an issue.

Best thing to do is get a small piece of cloth and put over the keyboard when you close it. Also make sure you use air to blow the dust and crap off the keyboard this causes lots of problems

Hell yeah I got scratches on my LCD! It pisses me off, cuz I hate a scratched/blurry/smudged screen. I also hate it when people put their fingerprints on my monitor and my lcd. Spend $3500 (my boss not me) on a kickin laptop only to have the screen get scratched by the eraser head pointer and keys.

Nope, my laptop's keyboard lowers when you close the screen for this exact purpose. Too bad the rest of the laptop SUCKS (armada 7400). 😉

What laptop do you have? Most of the marks I see can be cleaned off as it is usually dust and oil from the LCD lightly contacting the keyboard. Avoid setting heavier items on top of the LCD when it is closed and if you are using a laptop bag, don't pack it tight (again to keep the LCD from being pushed against the keyboard).
