I got married to the widow next door, she's been married seven times before.

When I was looking for a house, one of the houses I went to see actually had a bedroom that had a window that overseen a flat portion of the roof.

If I would of bought it I would have converted that section into a little deck, would of been pretty cool.

My home has a Black Widows Walk. Everytime I walk the trashcan down to the street I gotta make sure I don't get bit by a black widow. Actually they love my recycling bin better than the trashcan.

No, but the new beach house might have an ocean view from a larger deck. It depends on what I can see from the top of the dump truck while I am clearing it.

<sigh> No to both questions.

It'd have to be a VERY tall house to see the sea from here. (about 90 miles to the ocean)

That's what hills are for! :p

Of course 90 miles! The thought of that is making me sweat already! :hmm:

That's still considerably closer than when we lived in Wyoming...<brrrrr>

I'd love to live on the water, but not here. The ocean off the NorCal coast is about 55 degrees F year round...too dammed cold for my liking.

Maui or one of the other Hawaiian islands? You betcha.

Yes the Pacific waters are quite chilly. Eighty degrees is about perfect for skinny dipping under a full moon! :D

Googling for "widow's walk"......

Wiki

Ah, I see. Negative on that.

The Wiki is wrong at least for Long Island where I grew up.

The houses on the water that had these were primarily in the harbors such as Sag Harbor and Three Mile Harbor. They were called Pirate lookouts because when the pirates were home there was always a Lookout posted up there in case authorities started to close in whether my sea or land.

The houses also had secret walls, entrances and escape tunnels.

It was so cool exploring these houses.

I remember one that had a secret entrance way to the escape tunnel that was next to the fireplace. It then has stairs that snaked around and around the chimney until got to door that led to the tunnel outside. The tunnel then came out just under the dock.

That was really tacky though. Sad ending in that movie. The soundtrack was very similar to A Beautiful Mind at times as well. (same composer)

My mum-in-law up in Maine has one. It's really nice to go out with a cup of coffee and watch the boats go down the river.
