No, I have never been shocked by my commputer, but the shocks that you are getting may be from the capacitors on the motherboard. They can store voltage for a long time and not release it until the wires are shorted. Also, are you sure that it is not static electricity?

That's very shocking.

Do you have carpet in your house? it just might be static electricity.

I used to wipe the static off my monitor every time I sat down in front of it before I left it on the entire time, and one time I did that and picked up my Gravis Gamepad and touched what I guess was a screw inside through the plastic, and so much static electricity went into the Gamepad, it melted the plastic on the outside and burned my finger. That's as close to a computer shock I've come. :)

Explain the shock a bit more - is it from the case, or the actual components? Just a static shock, or something more like froma constant power source? I had a problem that involved getting a mild shock, enough to make my finger move away due to the power - the outlet was not properly grounded. Since I was standing barefoot on concrete, I was grounded, so it used me as the ground path; that's why it shocked me. Once it was grounded correctly, it didn't do that anymore.

Leave it plugged in, that's what grounds it and you while you work on it. People who unplug are just asking for trouble.

Whether or not you must unplug the PC before working on it depends on whether it's an AT or ATX case and mobo.

What I do when I work on my system is turn the power strip/surge suppressor off but leave the system plugged in. That way the system stays grounded but there's no threat of me getting zapped.

Jeff7, had a house with bad wiring, had the same thing happen to me. Didn't shock my hands, it was me feet that got the tingly feelin.

its possible you got a bad ground..

check that.. I remember my friend in India had his system shock me.. and there were no carpets.. he had a bad PSU... and we replaced that and all was well.

check into that.. normally it shouldnt shock.. also try get a Ground Fault Protection Surge protector.. it should trip if you get a shock.

I know some people who used to have those horrid plastic casings... I wouldn't touch those even with a cattle prod, because they used to give me quite a shocking experience. Your casing isn't plastic, is it?

I dont know if it is plastic but is shocks really good when it does shock you. I know it is a cheap case but it feels like metal too me.
