ive lived in my house for a year now andi havent ever had to turn the heat on in my room. its roasting even when my door is open and the rest of my house is what seems to be 30 below. am i doing something wrong or is it just athlon chips?

not really, i have a nice frosty pentium 4

although my floorstanding torch light is almost like there's a fire in the room

We don't call 'em "Space Heaters" for nothin' you know!

My bedroom (where all the PCs are) is consistently 5-10F warmer than the rest of the apartment. When I buy my house, the server (on 24/7) will either be in the garage or the "communications closet" I'll be building...which will probably be in the garage. 🙂

It's not just the computers. I've switch to LCD because my 19" CRT is heating up the room more than my heater.

Too cold in the winter for my computer to make a difference. In the summer my basement still seems to stay cold enough for my comp to make a difference.

I've never turned the heater on in my apartment. I often set the fan to intake to suck cold air IN from outside! It's actually been cold enough these past few weeks that I've actually been cold in my apartment, but not cold enough to warrant the heater.

I think between the 17" montior, the 21" monitor, 2 computers and 3 heated fish tanks, the source is probably somewhere there.

The room that my computer is in is definately noticably warmer than the rest of the house unless we have a fire going..

lets see, 2 machines running 24/7 and my heater has NEVER turned on...in fact, my AC has turned on quite a few times this winter!

Mine's a non oc-ed Dell in a college dorm room. The rooms here are always DAMN hot, and we always have the window open when it's 20 degrees outside. But the computer always runs nice and cool.

Yup, my room is consistently 3 to 4 degrees warmer than the rest of the house in the winter. In the summer it needs a dedicated AC unit. (And this is Maine!) Got 4 machines running full time though with 3 LCD screens (the monitors made like a 20 degree difference), most have RAID 5 or striped hard drives, so it cranks out the watts. It's like having 4 electric space heaters plugged in full time. My cockatiel LOVES this room, it's her favorite room in the house during the winter! 😀

My room is too big to be warmed by my p4.🙁
Guess I have to use a heater and waste more money on energy.

yep mine does. Athlon XP700+ a 1.64 GHz. dual 19in CRTs

keeps my room nice ad toasty. and when im at home i have a second comp Cele 900 with a 17in CRT. place dosent need heat. sometmes i have to open a window

Yes, 17" monitor for family's computer heats things up nicely. My room has an lcd and 3 computers but it doesn't really get warm.

I can attest to that !! I had to get rid of my 21 inch Sony Trinitron for a Samsung 191T .
